Raised over $28,000 since 2009!

The 16-week Friends & Fitness Half Marathon Training Program incorporates a unique conditioning plan to help participants successfully complete 13.1 miles. It provides weekday (Monday & Wednesday- see Schedule) track & hill workouts, strength & core training that improve one's anaerobic base, speed, leg strength and running form, along with a weekend long run (Saturday- see Schedule) to steadily improve cardiovascular endurance and mental strength. In addition, the Friends & Fitness Half Marathon Program provides its participants a "Run/Walk" option to allow runners the opportunity to challenge themselves while reducing the stresses placed on their bodies.

 

Our program is geared to the novice and intermediate runner and culminates with the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach, VA over Labor Day. For runners who prefer to enter a local race, after completing the Friends & Fitness Half Marathon Training Program, please consider the following races: Montgomery County Parks Half-MarathonWoodrow Wilson Bridge Half MarathonArmy Ten-Miler, or the Baltimore Half Marathon.

 

Being a runner is not a pre-requisite of our program. However, we ask that participants be able to sustain some form of aerobic activity (e.g. Stairmaster, bicycle, Elliptical trainer) for at least thirty (30) minutes.
